Jasmine Star Workshop: Washington, DC

When I found out that the Jasmine Star workshop was coming to DC,  I knew it was an experience I couldn’t miss!  Jasmine is not only an incredible photographer (and business guru) but she’s also an amazing person who genuinely cares about the photography industry and the people in it.  If you read her blog for 30 seconds, you easily get an idea of who she is and what she represents to her clients.  I went into this workshop wanting to develop a stronger brand and see how I could translate her techniques and vision, as a digital photographer, into my film photography.  Well, I wasn’t disappointed!

The workshop was held at The Loft at 600F and the space was beyond stunning.  We had a full day of inspiring ideas and lessons!  My favorites were: branding, posing, and developing real meaningful relationships with your clients.  Mid-day, we went on the most beautiful stylized shoot around DC and

Jasmine ensured we seek out real-life wedding situations while explaining how she handles them on a wedding day.  Being a wedding photographer, you have to accept you can’t control everything but there are techniques you can use to make your shots better and life easier.  It was all so beneficial and I’m so glad I decided to take a chance on this workshop.  In the end, I gained so much more than I expected and I came away with not only a great experience but also 19 new photographer friends!

Special thanks to the amazing Stephanie Scott, of Angelina Photography, for helping put together this wonderful workshop and making sure everything came together seamlessly.  I’m pretty sure you should be a workshop/party planner when you’re ready for a third career!
